What is Supplemental Liability Insurance?
Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is an optional extra available when you select Worldwide Car Hire Excess Insurance. It tops up cover over and above the car hire company's own policy for expenses you become legally liable to pay, such as car scratched or medical costs, as a result of an accident causing damage to someone's property or injuring someone while driving.
What does Supplemental Liability Insurance cover?
CarHireExcess.ie provides cover for:
- Externally caused damage to the rental vehicle
- Third party bodily injury
- Damage caused by your rental vehicle to material property

Do I Need Supplemental Liability Insurance?
In countries such as USA and Canada, as well as many others in North, Central and South America, the third-party liability insurance can be just the minimum required by law. If you purchase Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), your policy will provide cover against costs that you may become legally liable to pay, in respect of third party bodily injury and damage to property, as a result of an accident whilst using the rental vehicle in or through the countries mentioned above.
